Sundowns continued where they left off, and beat Cape Town Spurs 3-0 on Wednesday night to extend their winning record, and inflict more pain on the Capetonians. In the other game, AmaZulu beat Sekhukhune 1-0 to overtake them and climb up to 10th on the table. Here are five stats from the midweek action.

Sundowns winning run

11 – Sundowns have won their 11th consecutive league game, only the third time in PSL history that a top-flight team has won 11 in a row:

🔘 2006/07 Sundowns
🔘 2022/23 Sundowns
🔘 2023/24 Sundowns

Cape Town Spurs’ problems

3 – Cape Town Spurs have won just three points in their 14 games this season, the lowest total for any team at this stage in PSL history (was 4).

Sundowns unbeaten run

35 – Sundowns have also extended their overall unbeaten league run to 35 games (P35 W29 D6 L0 since September last year).

Shalulile nears all-time record

111 – Peter Shalulile has scored his 111th goal for a PSL club (27 at Highlands Park, 84 at Sundowns all comps). In PSL history, only Siyabonga Nomvethe (123) has scored more in the top-flight.

AmaZulu’s impessive defence

7 – AmaZulu have kept seven clean sheets in the league this season, equalling their best total at this stage in PSL history (7 also in 2011/12 & 2021/22 – they finished 7th in both seasons).
